HP&C also offers a wide variety of spray coating applications, including: multi-coat epoxy systems, molybdenum disulfide, Xylan Fluoropolymer, Hempel, and Teflon coatings. Before any spray coating is applied, all parts are carefully inspected, cleaned and masked as necessary, before coating and curing. Each order undergoes multiple inspections to assure that it meets rigorous quality standards. Pre-process meetings are often held with customers to insure that all details of complex orders are given proper attention.

Houston Plating & Coatings has qualified to be a member of the Whitford Recommended Coater (WRC) program. Houston Plating & Coatings has full capabilities at both plants to apply Xylan® coatings in accordance with the recommended coaters’ program requirements specific to Oil Tools and other energy industry equipment.

HP&C has shown to comply with the requirements of the program; among the requirements to join this program are experience in applying Whitford coatings and attendance to the Whitford training sessions.”

The Whitford Recommended Coater program recognizes coaters that meet specific criteria, including: a thorough knowledge of Whitford coatings and experience applying these coatings. In addition, the coater must have completed a Whitford training course and have specific quality assurance programs in place. To maintain membership in the WRC, coaters must go through rigorous audits every two years.

In 2020 HP&C completed installation of the new ‘Zero Pollution’ paint booths designed and built by Netherlands-based HBC Systems International. HP&C is the first industrial firm in the nation to install the HBC System “Zero Pollution” extreme performance coating booth technology. Designed to replace traditional carbon incineration methods of reducing air emissions, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs) resulting from spray paint operations, the new booth design utilizes a high efficiency, three-stage, patented filtration technology that captures 98% of all emissions from spray painting processes.

According to William Howard, president and CEO of HP&C, the Company has installed the seven new paint booths at both its South Houston and Humble plants. “We are thrilled to be the first installation of this new technology in the United States. It is a significant investment, but one we feel it is important for us to make in protecting the environment, as well as allowing for the expansion of our operations without the need to seek additional permits. This new technology was originally developed for the automobile industry, but is equally applicable to high volume spray coating operations, such as HP&C’s.”
